Herman Newcomer and Pearl Brooks wer married May 31, 1909. Herman was 20 years old and Pearl was 19.

Herman and Pearl moved to Arkansas soon after they were married so Herman could work for the lumber camps. Their first child, Eleanor, was born in Arkansas. Pearl was homesick for her family so they moved back to Pennsylvania.

Herman was a carpenter and pattern maker for tools and machinery. He had his own pattern shop in Williamsport. He worked almost his entire life and he was a good provider for his family.

Pearl was a sweet and loving mother. She always had a garden and also raised chickens. Our family made our own sauerkraut, sausage, cracklings, and melted down the lard for cooking. They raised our own pigs every year.

The family moved often in Lycoming County. They were usually within 10 miles of Williamsport.
