In 1880 at age 11 he may be a farm hand living with Josiah Kreva in Delaware Twp., Mercer County Pennsylvania. We can assume this is him based on age, birth place and the fact that his 2 brothers were also living as farm hand/servant on other farms after their parents died. 1900 and 1910 he lived in Chicago; 1920 in River Forest Township, Cook County, Illinois; 1930 and 1940 in Berrien County, Michigan. In 1900, he was a clerk in an office; 1910 a salesman for plumbing supply; 1920 clerk in plumbing supply; 1930 a fruit farmer. He was not a veteran. Obituary HENRY A. STROUSE Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Kerlikowske chapel for Henry Austin Strouse, 79, of Stevensville, who died at 10 a.m. Thursday in the St. Joseph hospital where he was taken on Wednesday. The Rev. Emerson Minor, pastor of the Stevensville Methodist church which the deceased attended, will officiate. Burial will be in Stevensville cemetery. Born Jan. 6, 1858 in Greenville, Pa., he moved to Chicago when 16 years of age, and was employed for 20 years as a shipping clerk for the L. Wolff plumbing company. On Oct. 9, 1920 he moved to Stevensville and for several years was employed as custodian of the Stevensville high school. Surviving are his wife, Bertha Strouse, four sons, Austin Strouse of Oak Park, Ill., and Lester, Wesley and John of Chicago; three daughters, Mrs. Julia Weger of Detroit, Mrs. Bertha Clemonsen of Chicago, and Mrs. Richard Burns of Stevensville; eight grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
