Estate was probated 2 Nov 1840 in Frederick Co., VA. Proved in court on 2 N ov 1840; Henry is listed in the 1840 Census which was taken in Aug-Sep i n his area; thus, he died about 1 oct 1840. His wife is in the 1840 Ce nsus, but is not mentioned in his will. she is not in the 1850 Census. H is seven living childre are listed in the will: Elizabeth, Frederick, L avina (married Joseph Trowbridge 17 Nov 1835 in Frederick Co., VA), Mer iah, John, Rebecca and Henry M
The will reads as follows: "In the year of our Lord one thousand eight h undred and thirty eight, October second, I find myself weak in body and s ound in mind. My will is for all my just debts to be paid after I an de cently buried. i will and bequeath to my daughter Rebeckah one fether b ed and beding, cow and spinig whee, and my son henru one horse to bee q ual to the rest of my children, and likewise Frederick seventy-five dol ars for horse of his that i sold. After I am decently buried, all my es tate both real and pesinal to bee sold and to bee equaly devided amongs t my sivin children, namely Elezabeth, Frederick, Levina, Meriah, John, R ebecah and Henry M Light. I appoint William Brown Senor and william Bro wn Juner my sale exerters. This day and year above written. signed in t he presents of William Brown, Thomas McDaniel, John Grove the 3." (Note t he mispellings are as written in the will.)
At court held for Frederick Co. the 2nd day of November 1840 this last w ill and testament of Henry light decd. was proved by oaths to Thomas M. M cDaniel and john Grove the 3rd, Two of the witnesses thereto and ordere d to be recorded. William Brown Sen one of the Exceutors in open court r efused taking on himself the further execution thereof which is ordered t o be certified. And on the motion of William BrownJun the other Executo r therein naamed, who made oath accordiing to law. Certificate is grant ed him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form on giving security. W herupon he together with Henry H. Baker and William Brown Sen his secur ities entered into and acknowledged bond in the penalyt of two thousand d ollars conditioned for his dur and faithful administration of the said d escendant's estate. By the court, T.A. Toovall CC." (Book 20 page 491)
He was married to Mary Wooley about 1804.
