Sources: Frederick Co., VA Deed Book 40 pages 68-71 & 72-74 Frederick Light, Jr. owned 197 acres on the waters of the Back Creek, n ear Gainsboro, VA on 15 Nov 1810 in Frederick Co., VA. He had purchas ed it from Frances Baker for $985. The land was bounded by land of Jame s McPherson, John Pickering heirs and Jesse Pugh. He owned 27 acres on t he drains of Isaac's Creek near Gainsboro on Aug. 5, 1816 in Frederick C o., VA.He had purchased this from John Wright and Mary, his wife, for $ 580. This land was bounded by the land of William Adams, edge of Isaac' s Creek to Wm Adams corner. He owned three of eight parcels of the fami ly farm (214 acres) left to the children on Mar. 29, 1817 in Frederick C o., VA Each of Frederick, Sr.'s children became owners of 1/8th of the 2 14 acre family farm on his death.These three parcels were purchased for $ 100 each from John Kearns and Elizabeth, his wife, of Hampshire Co.; Mo ses McDonald and Catherine, his wife; and Andrew Mason and Mary, his wi fe. Frederick, Jr. purchased all but one of these parcels over the four y ears after his father's death. Two more parcels were purchased from Hen ry Light and William Shehen and Hannah, his wife of Frederick Co. He ow ned on parcel on Feb. 7, 1820 in Frederick Co. He purchased another fro m his brother William Light of Pendleton Co. Following this transaction , Frederick, Jr. owned 7/8 of the family farm. He Trust for a $503 loan a gainst the family farm to McCoole and Sereton on Feb 7, 1822 in Frederi ck Co., VA. He trust added co-signers to the previous band on Aug 8, 18 22 in Frederick Co., VA as noted in Trust Book 46 pg. 1191 on Sep. 2, 1 822 in Frederick co., VA. From Frederick Light to John Smith, Sheriff.. H e Trust Book 49 page 175 on Oct 11 1824 in Frederick Co., VA. From Fred erick Light to Joseph Sexton and William Wood...He Trust for outstandin g debts on June 10 1831 in Frederick Co., VA. This trust was for outsta nding debts to Wm Shepard and Jackson Fenton and administered by the Sh eriff of Frederick Co., VA. The trust is signed by Frederick and Magdel ane Light with an x for each, indicating that they were both illiterate . He Trust 47 acre farm on Isaac's Creek on June 10, 1843 in Frederick C o., VA. David Adams, as trustee, sold the 47 acre farm where Frederick, J r. was living, to satisfy the outstanding debts owed to James Light, Fr ederick's son. He died in Nov 1847 in Frederick, Co., VA. He Trust fina l transfer of 47 acres on Feb 5 1848 in Frederick Co., VA David Adams, a s trustee, transfers final ownership of 47 acre farm from Frederick, Jr . to James Light to satisfy an $85 debt owed to James Light. Frederick d ied about three months prior to this date indicating that James delayed t he final transfer of the property to allow his father to remain in cont rol of his home until he died. Born on the 214 acre farm of his father l ocated on the drains of the Back Creek about two miles north of the vil lage of Gainsboro. VA. he worked his entire life as a farmer on this an d two other properties that he owned located nearby; on property was 19 7 acres on the "waters of the Back Creek" acquired on 15 Nov 1810, the o ther was 47 acres "on the drains of Isaac's Creek" acquired 21 Fe 1816 b ounded on one side by his other 197 acre property. He apparently helped h is father work the family farm of 214 acres and worked as a farm labore r in the Gainsboro area after he married in 1801 and until he purchased h is own property in 1810.

After his father's death the 214 acres owned by Frederick, Sr. were div ided evenly between the eight children (only seven of whom are ever men tioned). Frederick, Jr. purchased every share except that owned by the u nknown child. Frederick, Jr. bought an additional 197 acres. beginning i n the 1820's Frederick, Jr. mortgaged his property to secure debts. Alt hough no final disposition of this land after the death of Frederick, J r. can be identified it may have been sold at auction to satisfy these d ebts. No final disposition of the 1/8th share owned by the unknown chil d has been found.
