    Henry Ellis, 74, of Centerville died Thursday, March 31, 1994, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was born Dec. 25, 1919 in Udell, the son of Walter and Emma (Mason) Ellis.

    He married Frances Mae Nixon Sept. 16, 1940, in Red Oak. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Joyce Ann Martin and her husband, Doug, of Ogden; a son, Terry Lynn Ellis and his wife, Sharon, of Yukon, Okla; two step-grandsons; a sister, Geneva Little of Colchester, Ill; and two brothers, George of Baldwin, MO, and Ed of Centerville.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Nellie Marie Ellis, Mamie Price, Louise Doggett, Gladys Riley, Edith Henderson and Elsie Helen.

    He received his education in Centerville schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the 4-H and the Order of Eagles. He worked for the post office in Centerville with 40 years of service at retirement.

    Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Monday, April 4, at the Lange Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Higdon officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday afternoon. A memorial has been established to the Methodist Church or the high school auditorium and may be left at the funeral home.
