Henry first removed to Rindge, New Hampshire, where he was a selectman in 1770. In the town meeting of March 17, 1768, Henry was elected Town Treasurer of Rindge. Then he removed to Jaffrey, New Hampshire, and was selectman there in 1774. He was also Captain of the 1st Military Company and otherwise honored by the citizens of Jaffrey. He removed to Acworth in 1778. Although he had land in Cavendish, it is believed he never permanently settled there. He died during a freshet which carried away his mill in Acworth, New Hampshire in 1782. source: Linda M. Coffeen Henry moved with his parents & siblings to Townsend when he was five years of age. It was at Townsend that Henry received most of his education. Henry's mother died when he was age ten. After his father's death Henry and his unmarried brother Eliezer and sister Priscilla joined his Uncle John's household in Rindge, Henry was now 20 years of age. He was employed as a carpenter or millwright by Abijah Smith in building a saw mill in October of 1759. He first bought property in South Monadnock on October 22, 1761: he had also acquired land in Lunenberg prior to this time, possibly by inheritance. A deed dated Dec. 5, 1762, shows the sale of 185 acres in Lunenberg near the Townsend line adjoining lot #13 (Sanderson) by Henry Coffeen of Monadnock and # 3 to John Dundmoor of Lunenberg for 100 lbs. source: "A Biography of Captain Henry Coffeen 1738-1782" by William W.
