Facts and Events
David removed to Champion, New York in 1797 and then to Rutland, New York in 1802. He is credited as the pioneer of Jefferson County, New York, who built the first grist mill located on Mill Creek in what is now the village of Felts Mills. He received ten acres of land as a gift for opening up the mill. In 1804, he removed to Carthage and in 1806 built a mill on that river. source: "Biography of Captain Henry Coffeen" by William M.
