MISCELLANEOUS_NOTES: The Handloom Weavers by Duncan Blythell.Cambridge 1969 (copy in State Library of NSW). p.273 - Henry ASHWORTH of Turton, a noted philanthropic factory master, claimed in 1840 that Bolton weavers 'would not walk across the street to get 10 shilling per week by working in a mill'. p.258- By 1840, Henry Ashworth could tell John Fielden that his Turton mills had absorbed 'all [the handloom weavers] we could bargain with'.
