- ↑ Harry (or Uncle Bubba, as I called him) ran a POW camp for Japanese prisoners during WWII in the Phillipines after the surrender of Germany. When the camp closed at the end of the war, Harry asked the prisoners to sign a Japanese flag, which they did.
At the conclusion of fighting in Germany, Captain Hahn commanded a Division that went door-to-door in several small villages in Germany. His role was to disarm the civilians. When he returned stateside, he brought a German P-38 pistol with him. My father, Richard, Harry's brother, had walked away from the service with a German Luger. Around 1960, they swapped pistols. Harry worked for Hahn Roofing almost all of his life and was eventually Vice President while Fred C. Hahn served as President. After the closure of Hahn Roofing, Harry wnet to work for Hinkle Roofing where he retired several years later.
