Harriet Elizabeth Mitchell was born in 1867 at Warwick and baptised at St Mary's Church there on 12th April 1867. She was the daughter of a laundress named Mary Ann (known as Ann) Mitchell and Samuel King, a maltster at a brewery. Harriet appears in the 1871 census living with her parents and siblings at 4 Saltisford Buildings, when she was described as a scholar.

Sadly, Harriet died as a child in 1873. She was only six years old.
