Botetourt County, VA Deed Book 19, pp. 323-324 Benjamin Smith living on Kanawha- appoints his son Aaron Smith to sue in his behalf for his share in his deceased mother, Hannah's estate and those of his brothers David and Aaron who are also deceased. Aaron Smith, son of Benjamin Smith of Kanawha authorized James L. Wood as attorney in estate settlements of David, Aaron and Hannah Smith. [There should be a Decided Cause in Botetourt County which will shed more light on the Descendants of David and Hannah.]
Who was Hannah before marriage? Was she a daughter of Peter Looney who died intestate in Augusta County? Suspicion of this arises from this entry from Chalkley's, citing Augusta County Will Book 4, p. 80. 1768- 16 March- Estate of Peter Looney, Dr., in account with James McCain and Margaret, his wife- cash paid, David Smith, cash paid, Robert, Abraham and David Looney..... this certainly makes one wonder if David Smith was paid cash as part of his wife's inheritance.
