Facts and Events
[edit] ObituaryLYSINGER GORDON CLETUS Age 81, of Troy. Died peacefully in his sleep on July 22, 1993. He was proud to have been raised by his beloved grandparents on a farm near Shenandoah, Ohio. In the 1960's, Gordon and his wife founded Lysinger Photo Supply in Detroit. Gordon loved and lived for his wife, Jeanette; his children, Penny, Patty, Rick and Tim; and grandchildren. He was a true father figure who loved unconditionally and embraced all who came to him. He was an exceedingly tolerant man whose compassion and sense of humor will be dearly remembered by all. At his request, there will be no funeral service. However, the family will be receiving friends at his home at 735 Kirts Road, Troy, from 2 p.m. Saturday July 24th. Memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society. [edit] KidnappingHowever, in a short time I was to get two playmates, Gordon Lysinger, who was two months older than I was, and Carroll Lysinger, who was two years younger than me. Cletus Lysinger, the boys' father who was going from town to town conducting newspaper solicitation contests, had left Stella and the boys stranded in furnished rooms in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. Stella and Cletus got a divorce and Stella and the boys returned to live with us. Within a few weeks, while Gordon, Carroll and I were playing in the front yard, a large touring car stopped in front of our house. A man (Cletus Lysinger) got out, came rapidly toward the house and snatched Gordon up in his arms, ran back to the automobile and sped up the dusty road. Gordon had been kidnapped! However, within a few weeks, he was found and returned to the farm. The search, chase, and ransom settlement by legal procedure in the Hancock County probate court by Judge Cummins, is a hair-raising story in itself. Stella's attorney T. B. Jarvis, released a statement in the Findlay newspaper The Republican Courier, that Stella had agreed to cancel the $300 alimony owned by Cletus, in exchange for the safe return of Gordon. Gordon was found in Indiana staying with some friends of his father..." Excerpt from Rev. Ralph Woodrow Faulkner's, "From Plowing to Preaching," page 11-12 Image Gallery
