in the name of God Amen. I Giles Brent of the retirement in Stafford County in Virginia, Esq. contemplating the uncertainty of my time of death do ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following; my body to the earth in my soul I bequeath to the mercy of my Savior Christ. All my worldly estate I appoint my executors to be disposed of as followeth.
To my daughter Mary Fitzherbert I give five ewes and a ram
To my son and heir Giles Brent and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten I give forever all my land rights unto lands and reversions of lands anyways due to me in either England, Virginia or Maryland and for the want of such heirs then unto my own right heirs and for want of such then to the right heirs of my honored father Richard Brent executor, deceased anciently Lord of the Manor's of Admington & Larkestoke in the County of Gloucester in England.
After my debts paid I give all my goods movable and immovable whatsoever to my executors to be disposed of as followeth; 3000 pounds of good tobacco with cask to be given by them my executors unto pious uses where and to whom they see fit for with doing and how and to whom given I will that none else but God they shall be accountable.
I also will that to Edward Sanders they give 4 ewes and a ram and to John Howard 4 ewes and a ram
Executors of this my last will and testament I appoint my son Giles Brent and my brother Richard Brent and my brother William Brent both in England and as attorneys in their executorship until my said brothers shall otherwise &c I do appoint Mr. Edward Sanders and John Howard above-named both of Stafford County to be & to act & it is my will that after my debts and my legacies paid my said executors stand possessed of all my goods and personal state to the sole use of my son Giles Brent then to be delivered into his soul dispose when it shall please God that he is arrived to the age of one & twenty years.
In witness unto this my last written last will and testament I have hereunto set my hand and seal this last day of August Anno Dom 1671 Giles Brent
subscribed sealed and published for his last will and testament in the presence of us 15 February 1671
