    George was commissioned a captain in the Albemarle Co., VA militia on 11 Feb 1773. During the Revolutionary War he served as a lieutenant and on the formation of Fluvanna County tool the oaths as a major of militia on 4 Sep 1777. He represented Fluvanna County in the House of Delegates, 1779-82, 1785-88, 1790-91. In 1783, as agent for the government, made a trip trough the south and southwest of over 200 miles. In 1785 he was appointed a commissioner to survey the James River and on to the Western waters. He was at the Great Kanawha Falls, 12 Mar 1790, when Indians attacked their boats on the Ohio River. He moved to "Shawnee Springs," Mercer Co., KY, in 1792 and the following year was appointed judge of the Court of Quarter Sessions of that county. He served in the Kentucky House of Representatives in 1799, 1804-06 and 1809. He was commissioned captain in the 5th Regiment of Kentucky militia on 26 Nov 1801.
