George Singleton was baptised on 25th June 1808 at Long Bennington in Lincolnshire, son of Martha Singleton, formerly Burden, and her husband William Singleton, a labourer and huckster. In 1811, when George was only two years old, his mother died. His father remarried the following year.

George was tragically burned to death when he was only five years old. He was buried at Long Bennington on 22nd December 1813.
