Martha Burden was baptised on 3rd February 1778 at Long Bennington in Lincolnshire, daughter of John Burden and his wife Elizabeth.

Martha was married on 14th December 1801 at Long Bennington to William Singleton, a labourer. They went on to have three children baptised at Long Bennington between 1805 and 1808.

Martha died at the age of 33, being buried at Long Bennington on 20th March 1811. William survived her by seventeen years, and remarried the year after her death.

    This baptism has been linked to the Martha Burden who married William Singleton at Long Bennington in 1801 on the basis that it is in the same parish in which they married, at the time implied by the age given when she died, and one of the witnesses to the marriage was John Burden, which was the name of the father of the child baptised in 1778.
