Elizabeth Singleton was baptised on 21st May 1805 at Long Bennington in Lincolnshire, daughter of Mary Singleton, formerly Burden, and her husband William Singleton, a labourer and huckster. Elizabeth appears to have been the eldest of their three children.
In 1811, when Elizabeth was five years old, her mother died. The following year her father married again, with Elizabeth Ingram becoming young Elizabeth's stepmother. Several half-siblings followed. Some time between 1816 and 1818 the family left Long Bennington and moved to the neighbouring parish of Foston.
Elizabeth's father died in April 1828. The following month, on 22nd May 1828, Elizabeth married a labourer called William Willows at Foston. He was a widower, having a young son from his first marriage.
Elizabeth and William went on to have three daughters baptised at Foston between 1829 and 1833. Elizabeth's stepson died in 1830, aged three.
William died in 1836, aged 32.
The 1841 census finds Elizabeth living in Foston in the household of a butcher. Ten years later the census finds her and her youngest daughter visiting her eldest daughter, who had married a farmer and lived at North Rauceby. She was described as a servant at this time.
Elizabeth died at the age of 48, being buried at Foston on 18th December 1853.
