BIOGRAPHY:

A brief biography of George Francis Seaver was printed in the book "Genealogical Record of the Hodges Family of New England," Third Edition, by Almon D. Hodges, Jr., published by Frank H. Hodges, Boston, 1896, page 265. The biography reads:

"George Francis Seaver enlisted at the first call for troops in 1861, and served for three months with the Marine Artillery Co. of Providence, R.I. In the same year he was commissioned Second Lieutenant of Co. C, 3rd R.I. Artillery. He was engaged at the capture of Fort Pulaski, Georgia, in April 1862, and at the siege and reduction of Fort Wagner, in Charleston harbor, June to September, 1863. In the autumn of 1863 he resigned. He was City Marshall of Taunton in 1877 and 1878, and was then appointed to a position on the Mass. State Police. He was a member of the Taunton Common Council in 1870, and Alderman in 1871 and 1872."

Briggs (white, male, age 28, born Aug 1871, married 3 years, born MA, parents born MA, occupation unreadable), granddaughter Jeannette Briggs (white, female, age 9 months, born Aug 1899, born MA, parents born MA) and daughter Natalie Briggs (white, female, age 9 months, born Aug 1899, born MA, parents born MA) [National Archives Microfilm Series T623, Roll 639, ED 217, Sheet 1B, line 84].
