Family tradition says George married Isabella, who had previously married Mr. Jewel when she was 13 years old, and Jewll had died in the civial war. Isabella died Nov. 22 1908 in Cherokee.
George resident of Baldwin, Iowa when he was listed in his father Philip's will which was probated in 1902.
George's family were said to have had a full head of curly hair and they spoke "high dutch" at home.

George Helferich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philliph Helferich, was born in Cape Vincent, New York, in 1853. At an early age he came with his parents to Michigan and from there to Iowa when George was but ten years old. Thus all of his life from then on was lived in Clinton and Jackson counties, excepting the last year which he spent with his son Philip, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where he died May 28, 1927, aged 74 years. Well known to Delmar residents and many others of early pioneer stock, he was noted for those rugged qualities of manhood which ewre the endowment of men who tilled the virgin soil of Iowa's prairies. Those surviving to mourn his loss are his children, Mrs. Berth Schidleman of Mt. Vernon, Washington; James Helferich of Clare, Iowa; Philip of Fort Dodge and Lewis of Clinton, Iowa. Two brothers, Charles of Olewein, Frank of Maquoketa and 22 grandchildren, besides many others, both relatives snd friends. Funeral services were held from the Buchner chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev F. C. Worcester of the Methodist church with internment in Mt.
