George Anderson, third child of George Anderson and Deborah Grant, was born in Savannah, 1767, and died May, 1847. He became a very successful merchant and a man of much prominence in the early life of Savannah as a city. He married, November 4, 1794, Eliza Clifford Wayne, a sister of Hon. James M. Wayne, Justice of the U. S. Supreme Court, and daughter of Richard Wayne and Elizabeth Clifford (daughter of William Clifford, of South Carolina, and Mary Elliott).
