From the News-Sentinel obituaries; Friday, August 21, 1953:

Gano W. Batz Gano W. BATZ, 76, Burr Oak, died Thursday morning after a brief illness. A retired farmer, he had been a resident of Fulton and Marshall counties throughout his life. He had resided in the Burr Oak community for the past five years. Born May 20, 1877, in Fulton county, he was the son of Isaac and Elisa KESLER BATZ. On April 4, 1914 he was married to Estella HAWK of Culver. Mr. Batz was a member of the Church of God of Burr Oak. Survivors are his wife; four children, Don [BATZ], Mishawaka; George [BATZ], at home; Miss Mary BATZ, Chicago; Florence BATZ, at home, and a brother, Fred BATZ, R.R. 3, Rochester. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Easterday Funeral Home, Culver. Elder Harry SHEETS, of the Burr Oak Church of God, will officiate and burial will be in the Sycamore cemetery near Talma. Friends may call at the funeral home.
