A soldier of fortune. Among other things he mined gold in the foothills above Sacrament, CA in the 1930s and for many years worked on a merchant marine ship. He had a brilliant mind and inherited his father's writing skills. When I was a child we got wonderful travelogue letters from him from all over the world. He married for the first time when he was about 60 and lived in Coronado, CA and Yucaipa CA, where he died. - Gladys Wardwell Lehman
