sent email to kathy@co.mower.mn.us 6 Sept.-08. 507-437-9535-That email was returned as undeliverable, County records do not go back that far-I don't see any records from the FHL that are that early. If we ever get near the area try for genealogy societies that may have church records. Ernest born Aug. 1856 and Naoma born 1859-60.

TODO: Description: King, Ernest Eugene-call to see if there is a record of his birth Category: Birth Certificate Local: Mower County Minnesota Date: 6 Sep 2008 Status: Open Type: 0 Priority: 8 Repository:

Had a livery stable? Blanche thought that his roots were from England and Scotland. 1910 US census of Lewis shows he was born in Illinois. All other records state Ernest Eugene was born in Minnesota. In the 1857 Minn. State Census he is only 1 which makes me think that he may have been born in Township 12, Mower Co., Minnesota. E. B. King Thibadeau said that Gene had a drinking problem. On Lewis B. King's DC it stated that he was born in Iowa. I don't believe that was true. If he was born in Minnesota it was before it became a State so there will be no State record. Per the 1857 Territorial Census he was 1 year old and living in Mower County.

Ellen Blanche thought that he was Scotch & English.

Reference number: CNNB002

E.E. was married twice and Mary was married once. Both have listed 24 years of marriage. Mary lists 4 children of which 3 are living but two are not listed on the census. The assumption is that they had a child together between 1900 and 1910 that is no longer living. The other child is possibly Lewis Burdette?

Under years married, Earnst shows 20 but it is crossed out and a 6 written. For Mary, the years of marriage shows 6. For children born, Mary show 2 with 2 living. I am assuming that Gladys and Celia are Mary's children and that Lewis is from Earnst's first marriage to Martha. Earnst and Martha were probably married less than 14 years.

Not sure why Isaac is listed as J. W. Both Eugene and Naoma are listed as being 21 years old however, both the 1860 and 1870 census lists Eugene as being 3 years older. Therefore, this census (1880) is in error. Eugene should have been listed as 24 years old.
Liver complications was listed under disablities or illness for Amanda.

    Page 21A Lines 37-50
Maria and Mary Ellen must be from Mary E.'s first marriage.
There is a servant named Martha Hill living with this family. I believe that this woman became Ernest Eugene King's wife. I knew her first name was Martha and the description from Ellen Blanche King Thibadeau was that she had long red hair and was probably of Irish decent. Right next door is a Hill family that consists of a father, mother, their children and his brothers. One of the brothers is only 5. This leads me to believe that the parents of the brothers may have died. The place of birth all corresponds with Martha's. I believe that William, Hugh, Robert and O[s]mund are brothers of Martha Hill.

Mary's age on the 1920 census is listed as 48, however, on the 1910 census she was listed as 41, and on the 1900 census she was listed as 29. The assumption is that she should have been listed as 38 or 39 on the 1910 census.
This is the only census that lists Gene E. birthplace as Iowa and his father born n Iowa, and his mother in the [United] States.
Occuption for Gene E. is listed as farmer.
Occuption for Cecilia E. is listed as teacher.
