    Dallas Businesswoman and Wife of General to Be Buried Monday

    Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Gano Scurry, 67, wife of the late Gen. Thomas Scurry and one of the pioneer businesswomen of Dallas, will be Monday at her residence, 1903 Bennett. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Mrs. Scurry was born July 19, 1869 near Paris in Bourbon County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Gen. R. M. Gano and Mattie Welch Gano. She came to Texas in 1875 when General Gano moved to Dallas with his family, he having first settled near Grapevine prior to the Civil War. In 1896 she married Capt. Thomas Scurry, who was Captain of the Houston Light Guards when that company won fame throughout the country in competitive drills and who was later Adjutant General of Texas. He died in 1911. Survived by four sons, Tom, Richardson G., William C. and Maurice, all of Dallas; two daughters; a sister, and eight grandchildren.

    SCURRY -- Emma Gano, died Sunday morning. Survived by 4 sons Tom Scurry of Houston, R. G. Scurry, William C. Scurry and Maurice McLaurin; 2 daughters, Mrs. Raymond Potts, Mrs. J. W. Boles; 1 sister, Mrs. Kate G. McLaurin, and 8 grandchildren, all of Dallas. Funeral services at rthe residence, 1903 Bennett, at 11 a.m. Monday. Dr. L. N. D. Wells and Dr. George W. Truett officiating. Pallbearers: Dr. H. L. McLaurin, Gordon Gano, Gano Lightfoot, John T. Gano, Carl Callaway, Fred Tucker. Interment in Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements with George A. Brewer Funeral Chapel.
