Facts and Events
Emily Spire was born on 6th July 1843 at Fairford in Gloucestershire. She was the daughter of Elizabeth Spire, formerly Clark, and her husband William Spire, a policeman. The family frequently moved around within Gloucestershire following William's postings with Gloucestershire Constabulary. By 1844 the family had moved to Stroud. Sadly Emily died there of whooping cough on 24th April 1844, when she was only nine months old.
