Facts and Events
This is not proven and Hawley may be a red herring! From Census records for 1870, where Zillah is "at her daughters", staying at a house with people the right age to be her grandchildren. The family is James and Adelaide Hayhoe, curse the handwriting! But, also in 1870, Thomas and Ellen are living next door to Joseph and Elizabeth Hawley, from England, with their adult children. Elizabeth Hawley, wife of Joseph, died 24 Mar 1879 at the age of 70y 9m 3d. She came to Waterloo 36 years before (circa 1843) from England. This is a washout - she hailed from Lancashire, not Lincolnshire. HAYHOE, JAMES m. DANIELS, ADELAID 25/12/1859 Jackson Co Michigan Marriages The question would be why Zillah would be living with her granddaughter's sister-in-law (Adelaide). It makes more sense that there was a connection with the Daniels family prior to William Daniels' marriage to Ann Hawkins. It turns out that William's mother was a Willmore. 1880 Census - Leoni, Jackson p. 16 supv 1 dis 114 An English marriage record HAYLER Reuben 1838 Oct 17 WILLMORE Elizabeth |
