2009-a good contact for this family line contacted me via e-mail. Nancy Cifers lives in Amelia Co., VA. She is the great granddaughter of George W Midkiff, Jr. Some of her research: George Washington Midkiff married 15 Dec 1852 in Forsythe, NC to Elizabeth Livengood, daughter of George Livengood. Elizabeth was born 13 Dec 1835. Elizabeth died 6 Jan 1915 in Carroll, VA. There was a story about Elizabeth Livengood Midkiff's death. Two boys had climbed up an apple tree and she came walking down the road and fell out. They ran for help, but she was dead. This was on the Alerman farm in Carroll where she was living. The clerk of the court in Carroll was Johnny Alderman and he was an encyclopedia of information on Carroll county. He was in his 90s when he died. It was his daddy that was up the apple tree.
