Brigham, Elizabeth, wid. Capt. Samuel, July 26, 1739 [in her 75th year. GS.] [Age 74, so born about 1665.]
- The death record of Capt. Nathan Brigham's wife in 1733 gave her age as 4 days short of 69, so born about 1664. Apparently, this led Source:Hudson, Charles. History of the Town of Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, p. 392, to assume it was this Elizabeth, b. 1665 in the town records, but 1664 in the county copy. History of the Brigham Family, Vol. 1, p. 85, says that Nathan's wife Elizabeth was the daughter of Isaac Howe and Frances Woods, not the daughter of Abraham. Why? Because this source already had the daughter of Abraham married to Nathan's uncle Samuel Brigham. But this new Elizabeth was b. 1673 and is therefore almost 10 years too young to match the age at death of Nathan's wife. The follow-on History of the Brigham Family, Vol. 2, p. 39, agreed that this Elizabeth married Samuel, but says they are both wrong about Nathan's wife, that she is Elizabeth Maynard. The will of John Maynard mentions daughter Elizabeth Brigham and she was born 2 Apr 1664 according to Marlboro VRs, p. 125. In summary, this Elizabeth Howe did not marry Capt. Nathan Brigham, she married his uncle, Samuel Brigham.
