  3. Mehitable and Elizabeth were not on the passenger list with their father when he came over to America with his wife, Sarah, Rebecca, and Joshua. The source cited Source:Hobart, L. Smith. William Hobart, his ancestors and descendants, publ. 1886, appears to be one of the oldest that mention them, and may be the origin of reports of these two daughters. Clarence Almon Torrey's article on "Edmund Hobart of Hingham, Massachusetts" in TAG, 1951, p. 27:95, which is apparently based on information found in the parish registers in Hingham, England, did not mention either of them. --Jrich 16:53, 8 September 2009 (EDT)
  4. Presumably the death date given here is based on Elizabeth marrying Ralph Smith. There is no evidence that Ralph Smith married an Elizabeth, much less Elizabeth Hobart. It is speculative only, based on a close association between Ralph Smith and the Hobart family, and the fact that his oldest daughter was named Elizabeth. Ralph's widow's name was Grace, and as far as evidence shows, she may have been his only wife. See, for example, the article on Ralph Smith in Source:Anderson, Robert Charles. The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1633.
