Facts and Events
Elizabeth Bradshaw was baptised on 29th January 1826 at South Hylton in the township of Ford in the parish of Bishopwearmouth, County Durham. She was the daughter of Jane Bradshaw, formerly Watson, and her husband William Bradshaw, a potter. Elizabeth's father died when she was about four years old. When Elizabeth was ten her mother married again, to a potter named John Cooper, who thus became Elizabeth's stepfather.
At the time of the 1841 census, Elizabeth appears to have been living in the nearby town of Hartlepool with a Ralph Watson and his family, who were presumably relatives on her mother's side. Elizabeth appears in the 1851 census living with her mother, stepfather and two half-brothers at South Hylton. By 1861, Elizabeth was working as a house servant in the nearby town of Sunderland. She has yet to be traced after 1861.
