Elizabeth Mary Bowe was baptised on 15th May 1857 at Monasterevin in County Kildare, daughter of Catherine Bowe, formerly Galvin, and her husband John Bowe, a cattle dealer.

On 23rd April 1884, aged 26, Elizabeth married a bricklayer named William Reid. They went on to have nine children, although two died as infants and another two died as teenagers. Both the 1901 and 1911 censuses find the family living at Mary's Lane in Monasterevin.

William died in 1924. Elizabeth appears to have survived him by about six years, dying in 1930, aged 73.
