Elizabeth Mary Bowe was baptised on 15th March 1857 at Monasterevin in County Kildare, daughter of Catherine Bowe, formerly Galvin, and her husband John Bowe, a cattle dealer.
On 23rd April 1884, aged 26, Elizabeth married a bricklayer named William Reid. They went on to have nine children, although two died as infants and another two died as teenagers. Both the 1901 and 1911 censuses find the family living at Mary's Lane in Monasterevin.
William died in 1924. Elizabeth survived him by 13 years, dying on 25th January 1937 in the town of Tipperary. Immediately before her death she had been living with her daughter Kathleen (Mary Catherine) in the nearby village of Dundrum. She was 79 years old.
