Elias Kaufeldt was baptized 17 Feb 1656, probably in Hesse-Nassau, and as a young man moved to Maßweiler in the Duchy of Zweibrücken in the Palatinate area of Germany. He married Barbara Elizabetha and was a brandy distiller at Contwig, east of Zweibrücken, then at Odenbacher Mühl in Grafschaft (County) Leiningen. He died at Weißmühl near Herschberg, Leiningen, on 8 May 1728, age 73. Barbara was born about 1657 and died at Weißmühl 4 Jul 1744, age 77.

1. Hedwig Sophia Kaufeldt, born 1686 at Maßweiler
2. Johann Nicolaus Kaufeldt, born 22 Dec 1691, married at Contwig 23 Nov 1717 Anna Marie Grundt, daughter of Viet Grundt of Oberauerbach. Emigrated to Philadelphia on the Neptune in 1746, of whom later
3. Johann Jacob Kaufeldt, born 1684
4. Johann Christoph Kaufeldt (1694-c.1753) married at Contwig 1 Jun 1719 Anna Sara Degen, married secondly Maria Margaret. Emigrated to Philadelphia on the Glasgow in 1738 and settled in York, Pennsylvania.
5. Johannes Kaufeldt (1699) married at Contwig 5 Sep 1724 Anna Margaretha Schwartz. Granted permission to move to Hungary "with all of his," and arrived in Philadelphia on the Neptune in 1746.
6. Johann Georg Kaufeldt (1703 - 1734) married 1730 Anna Barbara Grundt
