Named in his mother's will. Thankful writes: "to my son Eliakim I give five shillings, his father having set him off well in his lifetime."
Oliver Phelps notes: "Mr. Phelps settled in Cold Stream, now Belchertown, Mass., in 1731-2, and was one of the first settlers in that town. He died there of apoplexy a few moments after family prayer in the morning." (Page 187)
Doolittle writes of Eliakim:"Church records say of him, "he was esteemed a pious man."
