In 1696 he purchased of John Scotchford a house and six acres of land, bounded east and south by land of his father, John Wheeler, which, as nearly as can be now made out from the deed, included the land at the corner of Sudbury Road and Devens Street, now known as the Ephraim Wheeler place. He seems to have lived just below this spot, near the present high school lot, a piece of property which his father conveyed to him by deed of gift in 1712, and which he (Edward) was at that time "improving," i, e., living upon.
