Facts and Events
Edward Newborn's origins have yet to be established for certain. There is a fair chance he was the Edward Newborn baptised at Barnack in 1717, but this has yet to be proven. Edward's first confirmed sighting is on 20th December 1742, when he married a Mary Rowell. They married at St Martin's church in Stamford Baron, the neighbouring parish to Barnack. Stamford Baron was the part of the town of Stamford south of the River Welland, which was in Northamptonshire at that time. Having married in Stamford Baron, the couple settled in Barnack where they had five children, although their third child, Mary, died aged four. They went on to name their youngest daughter Mary too. Edward's first known grandchild was born in 1770, and he had at least three grandchildren born in his lifetime. Edward was buried on 18th July 1773 at Barnack. It has not been possible to establish dates for Mary - there are rather too many 'Mary Newborn' burials at Barnack to be able to say confidently which one is her. References
