Mary Rowell's origins are unknown. Her first sighting is on 20th December 1742, when she married Edward Newborn at Stamford Baron in Northamptonshire. After their marriage the couple lived at Barnack, the neighbouring parish to Stamford Baron and where Edward had been born. They had five children at Barnack between 1744 and 1756, although their third child, Mary, died aged four, and they named their last daughter Mary after her.

Edward Newborn died in 1773, aged 56. It has not been possible to establish when Mary died, as there are too many 'Mary Newborn' burials at Barnack to be able to distinguish between them. Possible burials are on 15th October 1783, 18th December 1792 and 13th March 1798.
