Edward Chichester, 1st Viscount Chichester (1568 – 8 July 1648) of Eggesford in Devon, was Governor of Carrickfergus and Lord High Admiral of Lough Neagh, in Ireland.

Raleigh was an estate in the parish of Pilton, immediately northwest of Barnstaple, now in the North Devon District. The Chichester family received the estate of Raleigh through marriage in the 14th century and held it until 1701 when the manor was sold out of the family.
