Dorothy's marriage(s)

The Visitation of Devonshire, 1620 (apparently) and an inscribed tablet in Eggesford Church both indicate that John Coplestone of Eggesford married Dorothy Beeston (Biston), daughter of Sir George Beeston of Beeston Castle in Cheshire^[2]. The inscription implies that they were married in the early 1570's ("living together 30 yeres")^[2], although their only (surviving) child was born about 1588^[2].

Ormerod indicates that Dorothy married John Croxton in Bunbury, 14 Apr 1574^[1].

It is possible that Dorothy was married twice, but it is also possible that Ormerod mistook the name Coplestone for Croxton, and she married John Coplestone in 1574, and was, in fact, only married once.
