Revolutionary War Pension Information

Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 4, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :

Ready, Dennis - entered service 1778 in Augusta County, Virginia in Virginia regiment; taken POW at Siege of Charleston for 14 months; granted Pension abt. age 80 in Giles County, Virginia in 1818 per County court clerk David French; soldier resided there in 1820, occupation school teacher, but deafness & failing eyesight left him unable to continue; soldier had no family then or any blood relatives on earch he knew of. F-S39040, R2011.

The last will and testament of Vallentine Cook, deceased was presented in court and proved by the oaths of Dennis Ready and Michael Maddix, two of the Witnesses thereto, who also made oath they seen Robert Richey, the other witness, subscribe his name to the same in presence of the others and administration of the said deceased estate with the will annexed is granted to Susanna Cook, the widow who was duly sworn and with Isaac Estille, her security entered into bond to the court in the sum of ten thousand dollars for her due and faithful administration.
