Facts and Events
[Brockman.FTW] David Thompson served as a soldier under Capt. Hogg's Company of Rangers in 1758 , and served in Col. Bouqutte's Company according to Jeff Carr,s research of the Orange County Court records of August 26, 1779. He also served in the Revolutionary War. His widow, Elizabeth Brockman Thompson , applied for his pension in 1839 at the age 90. She stated that he (David) marched prisoners from Orange to Winchester, and was a guard at the Albemarle Barracks under the command of Col. Francis Taylor (? same as Francis Taylor who married his first cousin Elizabeth). She also reported that David was with Gen. Morgan and Col. Washington when they retreated through North and South Carolina. (NOTE: The above information was provided by Jeff Carr from his research. See his research paper entitled " THOMPSON FAMILY OF CULPEPER AND ORANGE COUNTIES, VA AND PENDLETON COUNTY, WV, updated April 1996). References
