The following was noted by Jeff Carr in his 1996 Thompson family research,Page 7:

The marriage records of Orange County, VA reflect that David and Elizabeth (Brockman) THOMPSON were married August 19, 1784; However it is very clear that David began fathering children in the middle 1760's.

Also, Frances, David and Elizabeth's daughter, stated in the application for her mother's Rev. War veteran's pension that David was her father ; Elizabeth was her mother, and that her father had been dead for 50 years, and that her mother had remained a widow since that time.

Lastly, Elizabeth stated in the application that she had been married to David "fully 70 years (1769)".
