David Conklin, Jr. was born on 21 August 1834 in Cincinnati, Ohio. A Hamilton County Ohio deed signed in January, 1855 and recorded in January, 1856 states that David sold his interest in the land belonging to David Conkling, Sr. No wife was named in that deed. A second deed, dated 15 September 1857 names both David and his wife, Annie M. The deed sells David’s interest in the land belonging to estate of David Conkling Sr., dec'd. The deed was notarized by David’s cousin, Truman Conklin. David and Ann were living in Cincinnati at the time. By 1860 they had moved to Cambridge City, Indiana where the census lists David as a lawyer. Family records compiled by David’s brother, William H. Conkling state that David and his wife moved to San Francisco. David and Annie Conkling are found in the San Francisco, California 1870 census, but not the 1880 census. No children are found for David and Annie. The San Francisco Call records the death of David Conkling, age 42 on 27 January 1879. The San Francisco Bulletin records the death of Ann Conklin, in San Francisco on 1 September 1879 at age 38.
