While Anderson reports that Charles Scott's brother William indicated that Charles had "gave his life for the Union in the Civil War" and was buried in the National Cemetery in Danville, Ill, this is almost certainly not correct. Charles appears in the 1870 census living with his family in Cincinnati (as reported by Montague) and no Charles Scott is listed as interned at the National Cemetery during the years of the Civil War. A Charles E. Scott was buried there in 1904 which could be the same person.
