Charles Moore was born 6 May 1791, in Buncombe County, North Carolina. He was probably named after his Uncle Charles Moore.

Charles seems to be home with his parents in 1800 age "under 10" (born ca 1790/1800) and still home in 1810, age 16-25 (born ca 1784/94).

Charles Moore married Margaret Penland between 1810 and ca 1812. She was a sister to Robert and George Penland who married Charles's sisters. She was born ca 1775/94 (per 1820 census) or ca 1789 (per some source?).

They were listed on the 1820 census in Buncombe County. Charles seemed to have several "extra" people with him for this census. He was listed two houses from his sister Margaret Moore Rutherford, and a few more from brother Thomas Moore.

Margaret Penland Moore died on 9 Dec 1828 (source?) in Buncombe County.

Charles was listed on the 1830 census in Buncombe. He was next to Edward Stewart Sr and just a few houses from my ancestor Jeffrey Grimes (1784), both of whom lived in the Avery Creek area, so that puts Charles somewhere near there.

Charles Moore married Lucinda Killian sometime between 1830 and ca 1832.

Charles Moore was listed as a voter in the 1835 Congressional Elections as having voted in Homoney (Hominy) Precinct of Buncombe County.

Charles was listed on the 1840 census in Buncombe County. He had several slaves and also several people listed in the Free Colored columns.

Charles was still in Buncombe for the 1850 census. He was next door to Charles Penland, perhaps a nephew or somehow related.

Charles Moore died on 2 Sep 1873 (source?) in Buncombe County.

Lucinda was listed on the 1880 census in Buncombe, living with daughter Margaret Moore Alexander and her family. ** I don't have this entry typed up yet.
