Rounsevell Mortuary records of Lead state that Catherine Teresa Moye was born on March 7, 1862 in Wilkesbarre, Pennsylvania; died at the Homestake Hospital in Lead on November 9, 1943 at the age of 81 years 8 months 2 days; funeral at the Catholic church on November 13, 1943; wife of Hugh Moye; father - Patrick McElwee, born Ireland; mother - Mary ____, born Ireland; resident of Spearfish, South Dakota. Lead Daily Call, Tuesday, July 30, 1935, Page 4 - "RETURNS. Mrs. Catherine Moye, a well known and respected old time resident of Lead, has returned here from an absence of several months to again establish her home. She disposed of her home and other real estate here last fall and went to Hot Springs to live in the hope that a change to a lower altitude would be beneficial, but in this was disappointed. Mrs. Moye first came to Lead in 1883 from Wilkes Barre, Pa., with her family. Her children were reared here. 'I've tried to leave here several times,' Mrs. Moye said, 'but have never been satisfied elsewhere. I've stayed away longer this time than ever before,' she added."

Lead Daily Call, Tuesday, November 9, 1943, Page 1 - "Pioneer Lead Woman Dies. Mrs. Catherine Moye Passes After 60-Year Residence Here. Mrs. Catherine Teresa Moye, a widely known and highly esteemed pioneer resident of this city, died at the Homestake hospital this morning at 5 o'clock following a short illness. She had been about her home as usual until Saturday when she was taken ill, and was immediately hospitalized. A native of Wilkes Barre, Pa., she was born March 7, 1862, and was in her 82nd year. She grew to young womanhood in Wilkes Barre and was united in marriage there in 1880 to the late Hugh Moye. They came to Lead in 1882 and she had been a resident of this city since. Three sons were born to the couple. They were Eugene Moye who died in the army during the first world war; John Moye, who died in 1918 during the flu epidemic, and Frank Moye who made his home with her. Other survivors in addition to her son, Frank, are a sister, known as Sister M. Anina of Mt. Aloysis academy in Cresson, Pa.; a granddaughter, Lucy Marie Moye, Seattle, Wash.; three grandsons, Francis J. Moye of the U.S. army in California; John James Moye of Custer, and Robert V. Moye in the navy at Newport News, Va.; three great grandchildren, James, Kathryn, and Patricia Moye of Custer, and a nephew, Eugene Scanlon of Lead. The deceased was a devout Catholic and funeral services will be held from St. Patrick's church. Arrangement, which are in charge of the Rounsevell funeral home, have not been completed pending word from relatives living at a distance."
