He married 1st before the 1739 census to an unidenfied wife. He married 2nd around 1740 to Marguerite BERGERON dit d'AMBOISE, daughter of Barthélemy & Marguerite DUGAS. On the 1766 census at Cabahannocer, LA as Bellefontaine, age 51 years; on 1769 census as GODIN, age 46 years (sic); on 1777 census as GODIN, age 56 years (sic). He died before 2 May 1786.

Bonaventure GODIN dit BELLEFONTAINE, born 1715, son of Gabriel & Andre'e-Angle'lique JOANNES, married around [2nd] 1740 to Marguerite BERGERON, "doubtless" daughter of Barthele'my & Marguerite DUGAS. He settled in Louisiana.

  On p. 2494 (Louisiana), four children are listed. Bonaventure was at St. James in 1766; in 1769 he occupied lot number 12 on the west [check] bank of the Mississippi. A nephew Jean-Baptiste BERGERON, born 1756, was also in the household.

Bonnaventure GAUDIN, age 56 [so born 1721], with wife Marguerite BERGERSON [sic] and four grown children.

Bonnavantier GAUDEN, listed with his wife and seven children on a List of France Acadian prisoners of the British at Halifax dated 12 Aug 1763. A note says that he was at St. James, LA in 1766 with four children.

Bonaventure GODIN dit BELLEFONTAINE, born 1715, married around 1748 to Marguerite BERGERON. He was of the River St. Jean, son of Gabriel GAUDIN & Andree Marie Angelique JASNE (COUHON). He died on 2 May 1786 in St. James [LA]. Succession record #168, p. 133-151, #309 [?].
