He married 1st before the 1739 census to an unidenfied wife. He married 2nd around 1740 to Marguerite BERGERON dit d'AMBOISE, daughter of Barthélemy & Marguerite DUGAS. On the 1766 census at Cabahannocer, LA as Bellefontaine, age 51 years; on 1769 census as GODIN, age 46 years (sic); on 1777 census as GODIN, age 56 years (sic). He died before 2 May 1786. !BIRTH-MARRIAGE-RESIDENCES: Arsenault, Histoire et Genealogie, p. 1637 (River St. Jean). Bonaventure GODIN dit BELLEFONTAINE, born 1715, son of Gabriel & Andre'e-Angle'lique JOANNES, married around [2nd] 1740 to Marguerite BERGERON, "doubtless" daughter of Barthele'my & Marguerite DUGAS. He settled in Louisiana. On p. 2494 (Louisiana), four children are listed. Bonaventure was at St. James in 1766; in 1769 he occupied lot number 12 on the west [check] bank of the Mississippi. Bonnaventure GAUDIN, age 56 [so born 1721], with wife Marguerite BERGERSON [sic] and four grown children. !MARRIAGE-CHILDREN-RESIDENCES: Janet Jehn, ACADIAN EXILES IN THE COLONIES; 1755-1769; Covington, KY, author, 1977; p. 244, 251 & 255; own copy. Bonnavantier GAUDEN, listed with his wife and seven children on a List of France Acadian prisoners of the British at Halifax dated 12 Aug 1763.
