    B M Smith Buried in Houston Wednesday

    Funeral services were held at Houston Wednesday afternoon for M B Smith, life long resident of this county, and former circuit clerk, who died Tuesday at this home following an illness of several weeks. Burail (sic.) was in the Houston Cemetery.

    Mr. Smith, who was 89 years old, was one of the best known and most highly esteemed men in the county. He servied (sic.) as circuit clerk for sixteen years, retiring six years ago. He was a devout member of the Baptist church and was regular in his attendance until his last illness.

    The only son of the late Capt. and Mrs. J D Smith, he was a member of an old and prominent family of this section. More than fifty years ago he married Miss Alice Davis who survives him. He also leaves three sons, Bryan Smith of Leland, Joe Benson Smith of Jackson, and Lieut. Col Lon Harley Smith of the Regular Army. His
    oldest son, J D , Died in 1913.

    Mr. Smith was an uncle of John, R V and Charlie Hill King. They, accompanied by their wives, and a large number of others from here attended the services.
