    Printed in the Times Post, Houston, Mississippi dated Thursday, March 17, 1921

    Mrs. Sallie Smith, widow of the late J. D. Smith, for years a citizen of Houston, died Thursday at Calhoun City in the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Tilden Prior. Mrs. Smith lived to the ripe old age of eighty seven, and remained active until the past year or so.

    She is survived by a son, Mr. B. M. Smith of this place and a daughter, Mrs. Fannie Henley, of Greenwood, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    The remains were brought to Houston and laid to rest in the local cemetery after a funeral service at the Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mitchell of Calhoun City, and Rev. D. W. Hodges, pastor of the Houston Baptist Church.

    This noble woman, who reared to manhood and womanhood, four children, was a sweet christian character and lived a life of good deeds. Possessing a wonderful vitality and the capacity to accomplish her undertakings, her efforts to do good bore fruit and much honor as reflected in her children and their children.

    A host of friends sympathize with the bereaved.
