    Porter - In this city August 18, 1966, Bessie B. Porter wife of the late Albert F. Porter beloved mother of Mrs. Ruth M. Anderson, loving sister of Mr. Ida May Jack, Mrs. Gayle McKinley and Stacey Thompson, grandmother of Jack Porter Anderson, survived by 6 great grandchildren; a native of Michigan, age 88 years; a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 109 of Oakland. Services 11 am Saturday at the George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers, 808 O St. Interment East Lawn private.

    Miss Bessie B. Thompson and Albert F. Porter Married
    Reception at the Town Hall

    The marriage of Bessie B. Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stacy C. Thompson, and Albert F. Porter, took place Wednesday eve., at the residence of the bride's parents in Parkdale. Rev. Puffer officiated.
    The house was elaborately decorated with palms, ferns; smilax and cut flowers and the large lawn was brilliantly illuminated with Japanese lanters. Over one hundred friends of the bride and groom were present.
    The ceremony was performed in the back parlor before a bank of palms and flowers which was arranged in a bay window. In the front parlor the decorations were of practically the same nature as in the back parlor.
    Promptly at the hour appointed the bridal party proceeded to the parlor, headed by Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, followed by the groomsmen and bridesmaids. The bridal couple entering alone. The ceremony was accompanied by an artistic rendition of Mendelsohn's wedding march by Church's orchestra.
    The bride was gowned in a white crepon silk, trimmed with brocaded silk. The bridal bouquet was composed of roses tied with satin streamers. The bridesmaids were Miss Agnes Elliott and Miss Claudia Thompson, sister of the bride. Miss Elliott was clad in white Henrietta trimmed with satin and Miss Thompson wore white silk and organdie. The groomsmen were Mr. Otto Bruegman of Manistee, and Mr. Walter Thompson, brother of the bride; the ushers were Mr. Chas Curtis and Miss Rose Thorpe of Manistee.
    The ceremony was followed by an elaborate wedding supper and reception at the Town Hall. Refreshments were furnished by Caterer John Thorp and ice cream wa served by W.T. Hatch. Music by Church's orchestra. Dancing was indulged in until shortly after twelve with Prof. Grice in charge of the floor. The Manistee guests returned to the city by special car.
    An unusually large number of elegant and valuable gifts were received. Mention might be made of several sets of silverware, cut glass and table linen, a 110 piece set of Dresden china, a piano and a parlor suite. A large cut glass salad bowl on a silver standard, from Mr. Porter's fellow mechanics at the Iron Works and an oil painting from F.W. Ramsdell were prominent among the multitude of appropriate presents.
    Mr. and Mrs. Porter will be at home at 250 Second Ave. after April 1st.
    The out of town guests were Misses Lizzie and Eva Thompson, Misses Stella Johnson, Agnes Elliott and Mr. Mark Thompson of Grand Rapids, and Miss Bell Kniffen of Detroit.
